UK AI Startups Founded by Women Secure Only 2% of Funding
Researchers say that there is a problem where more money goes to men’s tech ideas, and we need to fix it fast

A government-supported organisation says it’s very important to fix the problem of not enough women getting money for their artificial intelligence (AI) ideas.
They found that in the past ten years, only 2% of AI startups with female founders got funding. When they did get money, it was much less than what all-male teams got.
In the last year, investment in AI has grown a lot. Some reports say it could be worth a lot of money in the future. But researchers say it’s urgent for women and minorities to have the same chances in the tech and business world.
The report has some ideas to make things better, like hiring more women, watching how people give out money, and making the tech world more diverse.
Big tech companies are also putting a lot of money into AI. Microsoft, for example, invested a lot in a company called OpenAI.
There’s also a problem with not enough diversity in the investment world, and it’s taking a long time to change that.
AI products have had problems, like not working well with darker skin or making unfair stereotypes about gender. In 2019, the United Nations found that digital assistants like Siri and Alexa were making harmful biases, but the companies have tried to fix that.
