Exploring the Inner Mind: Jarvis Brookfield’s Latest Exhibition
Jarvis Brookfield, the artist known for his trippy paintings, loves to explore the human mind with his unique art. His newest exhibition is no different.
At Creative Boom, we’ve been big fans of UK artist Jarvis Brookfield and his mind-bending art for a few years now. So, we’re really thrilled to give you a sneak peek of his work that’s about to be displayed in London.
The exhibition, called “Julanite,” will kick off at 67A York Street in Marylebone on September 6th. It’s set to be a captivating journey into the realms of spirituality and psychedelic art. The main attraction will be a series of large paintings that dive deep into the inner workings of the human mind.
As Jarvis shared in our previous exclusive interview, his art is all about celebrating the limitless power of the imagination.
In his latest collection, he takes inspiration from Henry Corbin’s essay titled “The Mundus Imaginalis.” He explores the idea of a “space of suspended images,” which exists somewhere between the spiritual realms and the world we experience with our senses.
It’s a place that’s just as real in terms of existence as the world we see around us.
Vision of the Imagination
At the core of the exhibition, you’ll find two significant pieces: “Julanite” and “Nagoram.” Both were crafted in the late summer of 2022, a pivotal time that sparked this latest collection.
The exhibition’s main theme revolves around an imaginative depiction of a jungle at night. However, viewers are encouraged to let go of the idea of realistic representation and dive into a fluid, vibrant, and ever-changing narrative. Here, images are stirred and carried by an inner cosmic force, coming to life in the mind’s eye.
Within this mystical atmosphere, the artist hopes that colorful and translucent shapes will emerge from the depths, wrapped in intrigue, and captivating the audience’s imagination.
Drawing from his deep explorations of the inner realms of the mind, often unveiled during altered states of consciousness like visionary psychedelic experiences, dreamy moments, and meditative states, Jarvis invites viewers to join in on their own voyage of self-discovery.
In simpler terms, he wants this exhibition to encourage viewers to recognize the enigmas of life, delve into their inner landscapes, and ponder the timeless and universal aspects of our shared human experience.
